      Spangler and Hammerberg Recognized by Dispatch:

Jon "JJ" Spangler, a senior, was named Athlete of the week by the Columbus Dispatch.  Spangler won four events in a victory over Centerville. He won the 50-yard freestyle (21.93 seconds) and 100 free (47.98) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1 minute, 39.17 seconds) and the 400 free relay (3:15.71). He also won the 50 free (22.12) in a win over Hilliard Darby.

 Kayla Hammerberg, a junior, was recognized by the Dispatch for her two event wins over Hilliard Darby and her two winning relay swims in a win over Centerville. Against Hilliard, she won the 50-yard freestyle (24.79) and the 100 free (53.56). Against Centerville, she swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:49.26) and the 200 free relay (1:38.8).

       UPPER ARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 1937    

Since 1937, Upper Arlington High School athletic teams have claimed a total of 113 State titles.

UAHS is currently tied at #1 with Cincinnati St. Xavier, holding the most Ohio High School state titles, with a total of 41 championships.

Of the 41 state championships, 26 were won by mens’ teams, and 15 were captured by womens’ teams.
